Trick to export all advocacy recruits

Convio has a reporting weakness that surprised me when I looked into it. It's not straightforward to determine how many recruits came from a specific advocacy campaign. For those migrating from GetActive, this was a basic stat provided in the report for the action alert. Here are the steps I've done to reproduce this functionality. Hope this helps folks, and if there's a better way that I'm just missing, someone please let me know!

Report Writer >> Create a New Report >> Interactions >> Interaction Details

Include these fields...

Contact ID and/or Email

Creation Time

Interaction Creation Date

Interaction Subject

Filters...

Interaction Type = Alert Response

Interaction Creation Date = Last 30 days (The unfortunate Convio-placed limit on this report.)

Get data into the spreadsheet of your choice.

Create a new column called "Time Diff" and subtract the Interaction Create Date from Creation Time. Sort from lowest to highest values and delete any rows with a value greater than zero. At this point you have a list of all list members recruited via all action alerts in the last 30 days.

Sort by Interaction Subject to combine recruits from the same alert. Delete any rows you aren't interested in. The "internal name" for the advocacy alert is used here.

Check for any duplicates in the Contact ID or Email fields.

If you're just looking for the number of new constituents created through the alert, the Advocacy Dashboard report in Reports Classic (http://help.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=Admin_Advocacy_Dashboard_Report) will give you that!

Hey Noah, I didn't know about that report, so thanks for that! I just took a peek and it appears to be severely undercounting. In the advocacy alert I looked up for us, my method returned about 2,600 recruits from a message while this report stated 2,000. If you are interested and you email me, I'd be happy to go through this example with you.

You can get this for more than 30 days in the past, you'll just need to adjust the date window in Report Writer to be 30 days, period. So you can get the last 30 days, or you can get the last 60-30 day window, or the last 90-60 day window, and so on.
