Updating content for an existng welcome series

I need to edit an exisiting Welcome Series. My concern is if I revert the current document to a DRAFT to make changes, I will lose the audience that has already been configured. And if I make a copy and draft a new docment, I also will lose the audience that has been configured.

 

The message is scheduled for Tuesday, and I need to make the edits before then. Any help is appreicated!

Hi Francesca,



You are going to have to cancel your recurring delivery and then edit the Welcome Series messages. Returning it to DRAFT status won't be enough as the current recurring emails will still be set up to be delivered.



Once you cancel the recurring delivery, you can then move the message to DRAFT. Then make your edits. After that you will be scheduling a new recurring email. We make a note in the message description to say what version of the Welcome Series this is. (currently on Version 6). During the rescheduling of the recurring email, you should already have your query-based Welcome Series opt-in group configured. That will stll generate the same audience. I am assuming that is how your Welcome Series is setup if you followed the Lumiante Welcome Series Guide.

I received this from support when I had this question. The screens are a bit old, but the logic is still good. There used to be an area with downloadable tutorials on the website but it has changed so much, I don't know if it is out there anymore.

These instructions are correct. If you anticipate needing to update your Welcome Series content every so often, and want an efficient workaround to canceling the recurring delivery and starting it back up again every time you have an edit, you could move the 'guts' of your email message body to a Pagebuilder reusable page, instead, and call that reusable into the email message.


If you have two Welcome Series messages, you would have two Pagebuilder reusables. For example, name the first one reus_welcomeseries_message1 and name the second one reus_welcomeseries_message2. 


Of course, you would still have to Cancel, Edit, and set up the Recurring Delivery again to do the above, but only once, because your subesquent edits could be made on the Pagebuilder components instead.
