Citrix freezing while using Zoom

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I've searched the forum without much success.


Are any other hosted users experiencing their Citrix/RE sessions freezing multiple times a day, particularly during or after Zoom calls?


From what I have heard anecdotally, this may be a unique situation for those of us who are on Macs and/or use multiple or external monitors. I've had some success preventing Citrix/RE from freezing by keeping it open exclusively on my primary monitor while using Zoom, but that's not a silver bullet. Any other suggestions or thoughts?

    Zoom and all of the teleconferencing tools are notorious resource hogs. When I was on Zoom, I wasn't able to get emails. *shrugs* I don't think it's terribly uncommon, but I think it might be worth looking into your internet connection and throughput. While working from home, my router was unable to give me the throughput I needed. But Citrix and Zoom are always looking for a good internet connection, and Zoom usually takes the priority.

  • Just to toss it out there, but have you run into the issue with a Citrix update causing issues with your RE? I'm a few versions behind (per Blackbaud IT advice) so if you have a recent update it might also be causing an issue.
  • Thanks very much, everyone! I don't think it has to do with my internet connection, as this happens both at work and at home, and we went through the process of significantly upgrading our internet service and wifi routers at home this summer. My guess is it has to do with my computer's processing power. It totally makes sense that both Zoom and Citrix would be CPU hogs.
