Online Express: Appeal and Package Codes

When implementing RENXT, I was instructed by a BB consultant that we should use Appeal Codes and Package Codes in the following ways: Appeal: Answers “How did we get this funding?” Should always be annualized by fiscal year. Package: Answers “What method did we use to solicit this gift?”, such as mailing or e-mail. The Package codes should provide details that will allow us to analyze the success of a specific method of solicitation.


With these definitions in mind, I would like to assign one global Appeal Code to our monthly fundraising e-mails (ie, FY21 Monthly E-mail Appeals) and then assign each e-mail its own Package Code (ie, Aug 2020 E-mail Appeal). However, Online Express automatically assigns each e-mail an Appeal Code. I realize I can change the name of that Appeal Code in our Appeal Code list, but is it possible to assign each of our e-mails to a global Appeal Code, then also assign each e-mail its own Package Code?


Or am I looking at this all wrong? I appreciate any insights from all of you seasoned RENXT users!

    Hi Liz Green‍ - I cannot speak to the RE-NXT aspect, but I can for OLX and RE Appeals.  It is not possible to assign emails to the same appeal ID, as each appeal ID is required to be unique.  I see two possible options for you, neither are ideal:
    1. You come up with a naming convention that makes the appeals as similar as possible, so when viewed together you can see they are the same appeal with minor additional qualifiers - i.e. FY21_Monthly_Aug, FY21_Monthly_Sept, etc.  During gift entry you can use these appeals to make the connection within your data that the donations were a direct result of the specific email solicitation campaign. 
    2. You treat the email appeals and gift entry appeals as thought they are separate.  The email appeal is named to reflect the exact email campaign and during gift entry, in batch, you change the appeal for any donation received for an email campaign to follow the recommendation of your BB Consultant - the general appeal with a specific package. 
    If your system is set up to report on appeals to include stats, including amount raised, I would recommend you go with option #1; option #2 will not including this connection.
