Is there a way to report on unique contacts emailed?

Options
We are looking to report on the number of individuals we emailed over the course of a year. Email campaign reports tell me how many emails were sent, but how can I find out how many people we emailed? Looking for a total number of contact who received at least one email from us during the year. How can I report on this?

  • You can create a Task that tracks emails received within a 365-day time period.

Under "Data Management > Tasks > Task List " you can view/edit/create tasks. You'll just have to set the task to update one of your Engagement Factors, set the Emails Received option to a weight of 1, and specify a 365 day time period. You can have the task run once a day or once a week. Once that's done, just create a Query that looks at whichever Engagement Factor you chose to update, check if the EF is greater than 0, and save/run the query. You should see the total in the results or you can go one step further and create a Mail Merge if you need to export a list of those people.
  • Interesting. That will only give data in relation to today, however. Is there any way to get that information by date or by campaign? For example, we are looking to get the number of unique contacts emailed in 2019. Our campaigns are separated by year, so I could either filter by campaign, or by date the emails were sent.
  • Ah, sorry I misunderstood the question.

No, from the Tasks I don't believe there's any way to filter by a custom date. The only way I can think of finding all emails would be to run a Delivery Recipient report and compile everything into one worksheet and remove the duplicates. But as far as I know, you have to do that on individual email sends, which means you could potentially have hundreds of reports to run and compile. Outside of that, I can't think of another way to get that data, hopefully someone else has figured this one out already, sorry!
