Counting recurring gifts during campaign

Hi - we are in the middle of the campaign and of course want to count all the money we have/will have coming in. I am curious as to how you are counting recurring gifts into your totals. Do you count the gifts like a pledge (dollars x length of campaign) or just the cash gift when it is received? Thank you!

  • we have tried both ways, but found that we prefer having a more accurate look at the "big picture" so I run a Recurring Gifts report and add that anticipated income into our totals when reporting status.
  • For the most part, we count the gift when the cash is received.  Our exception is when we have signed agreement in place where the donor promises to pay $x at this interval. Generally, this is only for major donors who make large gifts that may span more than 1 year.
