CRM Service Pack Upgrades

Options
Good afternoon.  We are planning our first service pack upgrade since going live in CRM and would like some information from the community.  We are currently on service pack 19 and are looking to move to service pack 20, at the very least.  Would you be willing to share the following information?

1.  Which service pack are you on currently?

2.  Do you have a checklist of things you do before moving to the next service pack, i.e. testing all customizations, etc.?

3.  How often do you upgrade?

4.  Are there any "gotchas" that you have learned along the way?

We appreciate any feedback you can give us.  Thank you.

  • I would definitely recommend going to Service Pack 21.  It's been out long enough that there's no good reason to go with SP 20.
    1. We are currently on SP21.
    2. Yes, our project manager has a spreadsheet of everybody's testing responsibilities but we also do a lot of automated testing.  Reduces a lot of the tedious testing.
    3. We usually do 3 upgrades per year.  The turnaround time is generally about 3 weeks.
    4. So far so good.  We try not to take any service pack right away.  We let UGA do that ;)

Thank you Rick!  Would you mind sharing your spreadsheet with me?  I can send you my email address if you don't want to post it here.

    Thank you.
