Adjusting a gift that was applied to a pledge.

Options
A gift was received last month with no description.  It was applied to a pledge that was on the constituent record.  Now we have been notified that it was not a pledge payment but a cash gift for a different event.  I can adjust the pledge payment to zero but how do I can the fund and make it a cash gift amount.  Thanks in advance.  Sherri

The KB article for this situation is to delete the gift, and then to re-enter the gift correctly.  Unfortunately, once a gift is applied to a pledge or a recurring gift, it can't be removed.
  • We would adjust the pledge payment to zero, and re-enter the gift as a cash gift. We post our gifts to the general ledger, which is linked to the finance office, so we cannot delete gifts.
  • Thank you
