Major Donor Prospects

Options
Hi everyone, our Director, Major Gifts wants a constituent code for Major Donor Prospects to be created for easy access.

I am on the fence with this.

Can anyone tell me how your organization handles the above.

I'd really appreciate this.

Thanks in advance, karen

  • I agree with Austen on this.  We use the Prospect status and classification fields. We code each major gift prospect with a code to show what stage they are in in the prospecting cycle. The status we use A though C. A being just the beginning of the steps and C for those who have given a major gift, And then the classifications we use are 1 through 4. Again showing which step they are in within the status.
  • Thank you both so much for your reply.  I will let my director know who will speak to the Major Gifts Director, karen
  • I agree with you all on using the Prospect Management Tab in RE7, but our issue is that not all of that info. shows yet in webview (NXT) So it's tricky for fundraisers who might only be using webview to access the information about who is a Prospect. Will this change soon in NXT?
  • We use both - a constituent code with from and to dates (we use constituent codes generally to indicate "why" a constituent has a record), and also the prospect tab with status and rating.

Constituent codes can be handy when running RE stock reports, and also in pulling out our own bespoke reports - the from and to date is also helpful in some of the reports we run.  But it all comes down to consistency with how your database is set up, so no one size fits all, really.

Best of luck with figuring it out!

    Jon
