Problem Exporting Query Result

Options
Hello.  I'm a brand-spanking-new user of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge.  I'm having a weird issue that makes absolutely no sense.  When I try to export a query, it doesn't save to my PC.  I have no clue where the export is going.  My laptop is brand new, so has very little on it.  I just started with the nonprofit last week.  So, I am logging into Raiser's Edge with my own login, not the one that was used by the previous employee who left abruptly.  However, when I export, it looks as if it is exporting to a system with many folders/files (obviously, not mine).  Details:

I click the export icon.

I click on dots to the right of "export file name".

I change "Save in:" to Desktop (for export testing sake).

(The default is 27956$, which is not on my system.  If I try to select Local Disk C:, it won't allow.)

When I select Desktop, it shows many excel spreadsheets which are not on my computer. (Again, not my system. This is so weird.)

I click SAVE.

I click EXPORT NOW.

It successfully exports, just not to my system.

Any suggestions for me?  Anyone else encounter this issue when starting with a nonprofit that's already been in operation and has other Blackbaud users?

I appreciate any feedback.  Gracias.

  • Further to Faith‍'s post, it's also possible that you're not BB-hosted but are accessing RE remotely via something like Citrix. The result would be similar to what you're seeing I'd think.

BTW, you should probably post this kind of thing to the dedicated Raiser's Edge 7 forum.

  • Thank you Faith and Steve!  We do access BB through Citrix.  I had considered that the export was saving to a shared drive, but could not find it in any shared file.  I'd also tried to "save as" through the C: drive, but to no success.   I really appreciate your responses.  I will speak with IT support.  Also, thank you Steve, I didn't know there was a dedicated RE forum.  I will post there from here on out.

  • C: Drive on your Citrix/Blackbaud server is likely a restricted folder. You should maybe ask your IT people to create a dedicated network folder where exports, etc can be saved. These can be group-specific in case of sensitive data, reports, imports, etc.

Also, you can get a picture of the available product-oriented Community forums by mousing over products on the menu section (between my community and best practices).

    Good luck!

  • Could it possibly be exporting to something like Filezilla?
  • Moving this forum post from the Community Help Community to the RE Community in hopes of getting more eyes & replies...
