Event Registration Fees

Options
Our event registration fees are showing up on the constituent's profile as a gift, when in fact it is not a gift.  This throws off reporting for us.  Is there a way to record the fee and not have it show up in gifts?  Most of our event registrations are done through online express and entered into a batch.  When the batch is committed, it winds up like a gift on the record.

  • In RE any such transaction is a "Gift" even if it has zero (or less than 100%) philanthropic value. It's still money that the donor has given to your organization and should be recognized as part of your relationship with them.  We put such Gifts into a separate Campaign/Fund structure that gets excluded when reporting philanthropic giving.
  • We use a gift type of "other" for all event registrations, and then can easily pull the event fees out of gifts when we run queries, exports and reports.
  • We have two separate funds for registration fees - one for Reunion registrations and one for event registrations. Both the funds are linked to a campaign that is used only for non-gifts. When I pull reports, I simply include all campaigns except the non-gift campaign.
  • We use various gift types to differentiate in our database.  We have donations, registrations, royalty payments etc so we needed a way to do proper reporting as well.

We did this instead of campaigns or funds b/c we match campaigns to bank accounts and funds to G/L codes.

    Good luck!
