Finding Media in Raiser's Edge

Is there a plug in help find file locations of all media files in our instance of raiser's edge?

Hi Ramona Charles‍ - I do not see a plug-in for locating media files in RE.  However you should be able to pull a constituent query and using the Media fields pull together all constituents with a media file on their record. How have you historically "linked" media files with your system? Do you put a link in to a cloud storage site or upload the actual file?

Hello and great question! Is your organization using a local install of RE, or are you hosted? If you are hosted, there is unfortunately no "link" created between your local file and the media attached to the record. If you are using a local install, you can select the Link checkbox when creating the media record. This will allow updates to the local file to also update the record in RE. 

The only thing I can think of that may be a helpful workaround for hosted environments would be to paste the file location into the description of the media. That way you can run a profile report or create an export and pull the description which in this case would be your file location, but you will have to be careful when moving files locally. I hope this helps!
