Type of Gift in Opportunities not a reporting option

Hi Community,


We are less than a year into NXT and are using the Opportunities tile for tracking our grant proposals.  It works for the most part but we found that reporting by Type of Gift is unavailable.  Since we are using a tile that is not necessarily being used for it's initial purpose, I'm wondering if others are experiencing this same issue OR should this be added to the Idea Bank?

The pre-configured NXT Opportunities Dashboard does not seem to include Gift Type of Opportunities, but you can use the Report Builder to build custom reports that can filter and total on Opportunity Gift Type.

Hi Tom,


Maybe I'm still too much of a novice to figure out where the Opportunities by Gift Type can be found in Report Builder.  If I choose to build a new report, I don't see it as a filter or Insight OR I may need to review the webinar handout I received.

I think you may need to create an Insight that filters by Opportunity Gift Type.  It doesn't look like a default Insight is available.  I'm not sure if you need a subscription to Report Builder or not, but you can definitely create a custom Insight to count and filter them.

Are we talking about the field "Opportunity" Gift Type or the "Gift" field Type on the gift record?  I just realized there could be some confusion with the fields names.

We use the field "Opportunity" Gift Type to indicate"Sponsorship" or "Donation" or "DAF Distribution" etc. 


I just checked the reporting function in the fundraiser work section and there is NO FILTER for the Opportunity field OR the Gift Field... also when you are looking for dates asked there is no This Fiscal Year choice - it's all by months.... mmm.


If you go to Analysis - Report Builder - new dashboard and search for "opp" you get this:

Soo maybe you can't filter an entire report by the Opportunity Gift Type, but it looks like you can use the "Opportunity Gift Type" field as a filter in a custom Insight which you could then include on a custom dashboard.  We don't actually use it here, but it should work just like any other filter.  Here's a quick screenshot from the Insight Designer:
