Alternative receipt name

Options
Just wondering if anyone else have donors who request receipts in another name (i.e. a spouse or child) for tax purposes.

If so, how do you create the receipt so that it reflects the Addressee as the constituent & the receipt in an alternative name?

  • Our policy is that we have to have a letter provided from the individual that provided the donation indicating their intension this is simply a precaution so that if all of a sudden they request a receipt we don't have 2 legal tax receipts floating around for the same donation.  The donation will then the entered into the individual receiving the receipt and the other person will receive a soft credit. I will also add a note into reference indicating what has occurred in case there are any questions after the fact.
  • Thanks for replying, my question was more about the process prior to creating the receipt. If there was a way that an alternative receipt name could be brought over onto the receipt as it is being created.  Our previous database (a salesforce type database) had this option & it worked a treat.  We don't keep 2 receipts for the same gift but with the advent of the email receipt option, unless you can work it out prior to receipting we can't email the receipt as it has to be manually changed.  Would be great if we had the option to edit the individual receipt prior to it being emailed, alas this is not the case.
