DAF Letters

Options
I'm in the process of freshening up our letters.  I'm trying to figure out a better way to handle our Donor Advised Fund letters.  Currently, we enter DAF gifts on the DAF record, and soft credit the advisor.  I'm trying to find a way to automate these letters, but I'm having difficulty in pulling the soft credit addressee and salutation from that record.

I think I may just have to export externally, but I wanted to make I'm not overlooking something.

  • That's one of many reasons we started hard crediting the donor that advised the funds be directed towards our organization and we don't bother with soft credits. I explained our process in detail on page 1 of this thread. Perhaps it might be helpful.
  • Are you using  Mail/ Donor Acknowledgment letters?

Set it to sc gifts to sc recipient on the General tab . On the "Fields to include" tab choose the desired salutation/ addressee of your SC recipient.

  • Aaron Rothberg‍, thanks for the link to the previous conversation on DAFs. This is something we've discussed over the years and we've handled them in different ways. However, I would like to take the information from the thread you shared and present this to a few people. Thanks again for sharing it.
  • We follow Bill Connor's Name on Check gift attribute method and it works BEAUTIFULLY. Hard credit donor, attribute for the Foundation. I have variable Word Merge to pull the NAME ON CHECK is XYZ FOUNDATION wording into the regular tax footer. Easy peasy and works right in the regular ack process in Mail.
