Recurring Gifts

Hi Colleagues,

Does anyone do anything to count an entire recurring gift through either Online Express or NetCommunity in Raiser's Edge? When a recurring gift is made, it is created with just the monthly amount to be charged, not the entire amount of the gift for the year. Thus, a $120 gift is recorded at $10 per month. Does anyone do anything to be able to count the entire $120? Do you add a pledge and delete it?

If the gift is for a specific amount - it is a pledge and should be entered as one. A recurring gift is an ongoing gift.

We have recurring gifts via NetCommunity. This means we need to make a batch monthly to process these gifts. In RE, the main recurring gift has a gift type of "Recurring Gift" (which is not real money, it's the promise of money), and the actual gifts have the gift type of "Recurring Gift Pay-Cash". 


To calculate a projection for the year, you can use math and a query to figure out how much you'll raise from these donors in a year (which excludes attrition). At my organization, we have just over 10,000 recurring gift donors, and we do not enter pledges for these gifts. We use queries and reports for projections and reporting. 


To calculate the annual tax receipt amount, make sure these recurring gift donors have a receipt type of "consolidated".
