Query for unassigned prospects - not assigned to constituent or constituent spouse

Options
I'm trying to create a query that pulls unassigned records.  We have many families with separate full constituent records for each spouse - and soft credited gifts.  When I try to query gifts >=$xx between date xx and date xx and the solicitor type is not Primary for the constituent and/or not Primary for the spouse, the query seems to always pull assigned records.  I've tried both query and merged query but haven't figured out the magic of identifying unassigned prospects.  Help please!

  • Have you tried using Relationships> Solicitor Name is Blank?

Or, if you are in a Constituent query,  Relationships> Assigned Solicitor Name Blank
  • Solicitor name is blank will potentially exclude people who were assigned long ago but not currently.

My issue is that neither the Constituent nor their spouse can be assigned to a Primary solicitor.  My results will give me the name of the spouse who is not assigned but won't exclude them because their partner is assigned to a Primary.

  • Pretty sure a merge query would work here. Create a query that looks for anyone who does have a primary solicitor assigned, or whose spouse does, and subtract that from the query with your gift criteria.
  • Sounds like a brilliant and simple solution!  I'll give it a try and let you know how it works. ;-)
  • That's a winner!  Thanks Alan!
