Managing multiple Proposals?

Options
Hi there,

We're refreshing our RE protocols (we're using v7.92) and I'm wondering if you have any tips in how to manage multiple Proposals? Specifically, we have donors who are at more than one stage at the same time (including Stewardship, Cultivation for different projects and at various giving levels). I know Prospect Status is designed to capture the stage but this is a single dropdown field and as such hinders the management of multiple Proposals at differeing stages, which we are going to need to be able to do.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

  • Discussion moved to Raiser's Edge forum. Thanks!
  • We have the exact same situation.  Typically we allow our Development Officers to just pick the Prospect status based on the "most important" proposal on the record.

For reports we tend to look at the Proposal Status instead of the Prospect Status.  Example:

Donor Robert Smith might have a Prospect Status of "Cultivate".... but he could have three different proposals.  One proposal might have a status of "Planned" (so we're still working out the details), One proposal might have a status of "Submitted" (so he's been asked) and a third proposal might be "Funded".

When we pull reports, each of his proposals will be listed and tallied up in a different category.  So his name might appear 3 times, once for each proposal.  Each proposal could also have a different Development Officer (unlikely, but possible)....

  • Thanks Tom. Picking the major/largest Proposal is definitely one of the approaches we're considering. Shame to have multiple lines in the report but I'm not sure how this can be avoided. I'm aware the various stakeholder relationships involved might be tough to report on but this is secondary to seeing the value/purpose of the relationships.
