SYLK error rant

It has been YEARS since I encountered this so I forgot what was going on


BUT you get this STUPID error when you export a CSV file that the first column header is ID


Like just say that in the error message instead of "Excel has detected that XXX.CSV is a SYLK file, but cannot load it. Either the file has errors or it is not a SYLK file format. Click OK to try to open the file in a different format."


Like really????  REALLY???


I did finally figure out what was going on and yes it would open and then you could save in CSV, Excel format but goodness me...why do developers write error message this stupid, does not communicate anything way

Is the header on your first column "ID"? If it is this can cause the error message. I changed the ID to ConsID and it corrected the problem.

Leilani - that was exactly the problem


I did figure that out


My irritation was the error message is meaningless, and why don't developers communicate more effectively
