Adding proposal records for direct mail in a capital campaign

We are working on a $9M building campaign and I'm wondering about adding proposal records for the direct mail piece.  I added proposal records for the major and special gift requests since the number of asks is quite manageable and the amounts were considerably higher than the direct mail.  We are sending about 1000 direct mail asks with annual requests ranging from $600 up to $4k a year.  Would you create proposal records for all of the direct mail or enter pledges as they come in and don't worry about tracking the original ask amount?  Thanks for your insight!!
