Selling Ancillary Event Items Through Online Express

Options
Hi everyone,

We use the Online Express Event and Donation forms pretty heavily,  but we just realized that we're not really using the Event forms properly.  I'm trying to find workable solutions to this.

The detail of our issue is this: Along with admission tickets to a given event,  we're also listing ancillary event items as units to sell through the event form.  For instance,  if we have a carnival,  we sell not only the admission ticket to the carnival through the Online Express event form, but various packets of game tickets, lunches, and things like that as well.

The problem with this is that everything listed as a unit processes as a registrant for the event.  So if Sally goes to the form and buys a ticket and a pack of game tickets,  she's populating in the RE event record twice as a registrant: once for the admissions ticket and again for the game pack.  Now the RE event record has duplicate registrants and combing through to determine which registrant is authentic while consolidating all the bought units under one registrant record can be a pain.  I don't think it's work we want to take on for every event,  but if we can't find a way to keep event data "clean"  it becomes (or in our case remains) undependable to use later.

So my question is has your org faced this situation with events you host where you sell registration online through OLX?  How do you handle online purchases for your event's ancillary items - is there a way to do that in OLX or do those sales have to happen in another application/separate process?

  • Hi, Karintha. I'm having the same issue - that's how I found your question. I'm going to continue to research and if I find anything out, I'll get back to you.
