Looking for any folks out there using RE API to do imports. Any help will be appreciated.

  • RE API or NXT SKY API?  If you are hosted, I think you'll be SKY API.


    What kind of imports are you thinking of?  We are thinking of it, vai SKY, to connect to other systems, say face to face suppliers - data could come into NXT pretty much as soon as someone signs up.

    We are currently going through this as we speak still in testing phase but people signing up are going directly into the DB with no issues.

    As for the reporting there is a great write up in the API community for getting Power BI intergrated with SKY API into your DB to do reporting on.

    We need to use RE API. Migrating over to CRM in a year or so but we have a ton of Bio and Gift updates processes occurring on a daily basis. We tried to get RE Queue to work but kept running into a brick wall and RE Support didn't really had any more advice to offer.


    The problem we keep running into is the have the API signing into RE. We were wondering if any other users experienced this issue when the first started using the RE API.


    Any feedback and help would be useful

    Hey Darrin, are using RE API? If so, would like to pick your brain on the topic.

  • Yes Darrin Fitzgerald‍, would be great to learn more about how you achieved the DB syncing via SKY API.  Did you engage a developer to build the API connections?  Is it face to face regular giving acquisition that you are syncing?  Do you have any timing issues - how often does it sync. Are you able to pull the appropriate data easily (filtering for recently added, ready to send, not previously sent, etc).  How does the API handle dupes?


    As you can tell, bit excited to talk to someone in the know!
  • I wish I would have seen this post earlier -- I have a major integration I'm working on that ended up using ImportOMatic... It works, but is not automated.. Since we're hosted RE is saying automation isn't possible...??

    We are self hosted and have ImportOmatic. Our problem is that there are still too many buttons to be pushed and full automation hasn't been achieved. Blackbaud's response is "We don't support API development in Raiser's Edge". As for being hosted, you are very limited to what can be done.


    Still looking for someone who has successfully used RE API in Raiser's Edge so we can pick their brain.

    Sorry i haven't responded, What i will do is put together a document on how we got our subscribers on our new website into RE and how we got it to fill all the right codes and salutations ect ect.

    Ill hope to have this done by the end of the week for you.

  • Regarding importomatic - we do ~20-30 automated imports/exports a day - all automated with no user intervention (less looking at the exception files).  Assuming you have the 'iom scheduler' automating should not be an issue.  Thanks
