Issue with mail merge letter

Recently a user was trying to edit a letter on the system and it came up with an error.

I went to look at it and when I tried to open it I received an 'Automation server unavailable error' this effected all the other letters too.

I raised a ticket and the resolutiuon was to re-install Word (which actually meant re-install Office). This worked but I wonder if any one else has experienced this or something similar - it seemed a drastic solution and I am no further understanding what went wrong with that letter to cause this..

I will just say you were very lucky that Re-installing Office solved the issue. Too often an issue like this requires you to re-create the letter which in some cases is a nightmare. 


My suggestion to EVERYONE. If you have not yet done "save as" and made a backup copy of each of your acknowledgement letter templates - do it NOW.
