Blackbaud University Favorite Classes

Options
The organization I'm working with has a previously purchased membership (subscription?) to Blackbaud University Learn Everything. It's amazing. Every class and exam is available and included in whatever investment was made before my time, and I'm taking as much advantage of it as possible. What are some of the best classes you've taken? Any tracks that were more valuable than others? I'm already bCRE-PRO, because why not? and bCNW, but now I'm like, what next? So many choices... any tips or advice from fellow learners?

  • Hi Shelly - we just got a Learn More subscription this fall and I've been LOVING it!

I've been so impressed with the quality of the instructors and classes.

Here are some of my favorite classes I've taken:  Configuring Your Database for Success, Crystal Reports 1 & 2

I took a bunch of others and they were fine but I got the most out of those three classes

I also wrote down instructor information - as that makes such a difference as well and my favorite instructors where:  Jackie Zimmerman, Catherine Rojo (she sends out a bunch of follow up/links post class which is great), Kirk Lilwall and Rich Waldmann

I saw that you can filter/search by instructor and that is what I mean to do next year when I have some time to take classes again.

I got my bCRE-PRO and am taking a break right now

    Happy Holidays!!

  • Lucky you!  Take 'em all!!!  LOL  I would take everything related to queries and reports.  I have gained so many tips and tricks from these classes, even the basic level ones.
  • I've taken a lot of classes (I'm also professionally certified) but I've also been using RE for almost 20 years so I've often had a lot of knowledge before I got a chance to take the class.  This was when you had to actually take a group of classes before you could take the exams.  One thing I noticed though is that even if it's a class about something that I've been using for years there are always those little tricks and shortcuts that you never knew about but find out in the class.  Granted 3 hours is a significant amount of time to only get a couple of tricks but they're often helpful.
