Query on giving that selectively includes MG Pay-Cash

I have a question I am hoping you can help me with. Where I work, we have donor lists at the end of the fiscal year, and one of them is the President’s Circle, for anyone who gives $1,000 or more to anything. The tricky part is that MG cash is not just blanket included. The MG needs to be credited to the same year as the original gift to be counted. For example:

I make a gift for $500 on 7/1/18 that is going to be matched. That match comes in on 9/1/18. I am in.
I make a gift for $500 on 5/1/18 that is going to be matched, then I make a gift for $500 on 7/1/18 that is not going to be matched. The match for the first gift comes in on 9/1/18. Not in.

They don’t credit based on pledges, only cash in. So the first part of my query that gets just regular donors in is easy: Total Amount of Gifts greater than or equal to $1,000
Gift Date: FY18
Gift Type: All Cash, Stock, all GiK, and all Other except for the MGs.

Do you have any suggestions how to create that second part? Total of all FY18 gifts plus total of all MG gifts credited to a MG Pledge in FY18 greater than or equal to $1,000?

We don't have a giving society, but they've started talking about it. Whether/how to include pledges is a good decision to make before it gets started. Hope you can come up with a clear plan.

Whew, have you had donors with MG not paid in the same fiscal year upset when they don't appear on the list? 


We also only count received funds for our lists but we don't credit MG to the donor who requested the match. We list the matching org.


(As I read your post you're in both ways per your criteria. Scenario 1 gift plus match. Scenario 2 gift plus gift.)

I have a whole bunch of ideas, but none of them seem to be without manual work, and combing through results after exporting.  Let me think on it some more.
