Capturing Gender on Donation Form

Options
Hello!

I did a quick look at fields for donation forms and am not seeing a Gender option. Is there a way to capture Gender on a donation form and if so how editable is that field?

7.96 now allows you to edit the Gender table so we want to start capturing this information

Thanks!

  • Hi Joanne,

You should be able to add a custom field on Step 3. Design Donor Screens in the donation form setup. There is a button called 'New' under the Select data elements to include in this form:  column. Then the field lives in the 'Custom' section of the selection box. And since you are using Omatic, you would just map that custom field to the Gender field in the Constituent profile.

Let me know if that helps,

  • Thanks Phil!

    I will try that

It is strange though when I go into ImportOmatic configuration and open one of my Luminate Connector profiles there is a Luminate Online Field called Donor - ConsGender

But I cannot find that in the data element list for the donation form (when I go to edit the Step 3 as you mention below)

  • That is really weird!!!

I thought it was strange gender wasn't in there by default as well.

  • Just chatted with support and they told me to set up a custom field

I asked about the Omatic mapping and they said it was an Omatic 'thing' Gender isn't a standard Luminate Data Element

Separate question for you Philip Nawrocki‍ (or any/all who might know) - we recently upgraded to 7.96 and since then when we are importing via ImportOmatic any exception files that used to come in as CSV files are now creating text files.

Have you experienced anything like this (I think you have Omatic)

I put something out to the Omatic Community but so far the only answer was to open in excel and save as CSV which really doesn't work as this CSV exception file has columns that go out to NT and the text to CSV puts everything in one column

    Ah technology...
  • Another idea is to add the Title field, which you could use to determine the gender most of the time. (100% of the time if you remove Dr. and so on.) Might seem a little less intrusive if you are good with binary gender choices.
  • Joanne Felci‍ I chatted with my RE guy and he has not experienced this in Omatic.

We are on 7.96 and patch 10.  I even opened a few exception files to make sure we were cool.

    That is really strange!

    Sorry I couldn't help more.

  • Philip Nawrocki‍ - what can I say we are 'unique'?!  :)

Seriously though we just upgraded to patch 12 (why my IT department didn't put us on the latest release when they upgraded us I will never know) and maybe it will correct the issue, if not I figured out a work around.

Upgrading to Patch 12 was an adventure - not sure if it was my IT department or some bug they have not worked out but it was a nightmare...all settled now though.
  • We use title and make it a required field.  It helps because sometimes you can't tell gender by name and we don't like to ask for it on a donation form.  TeamRaiser registrations only.
