Luminate Online Requires RE NXT?

Options
Hello and happy Friday!

I have a question that I am not sure where to post but I am starting here.

We currently have Raiser's Edge, NetCommunity, and TeamRaiser. We use the Omatic connector to bring in the gifts/information from TeamRaiser into RE. We are discussing getting Luminate Online as our website and email system. We have had some people tell us that we have to upgrade to RE NXT in order to use Luminate Online though. For various reasons we will not be upgrading to RE NXT and are trying to confirm if this means that we won't/can't use LO.

At my previous job they had LO before they even had RE and then a year or so after getting RE they integrated them with the RELO connector which they replaced a year later with the Omatic connector. The systems worked fine and they eventually upgraded to RE NXT but I can't think of any reason why this would be required.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thank you so much and hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • We use LO and do not have RE NXT and are not hosted by Blackbaud.

I'm curious to know if said "some people" that told you this are Blackbaud sales reps?
  • Hi Crystal,

We have RE and originally had NC and Sphere.  We moved to LO/TeamRaiser about five years ago.  You do not need RE NXT to have LO.  By the way, if you have TeamRaiser, you already have LO.  TeamRaiser is a component of LO.  LO contains your primary database that syncs to RE. You should be able to use the other LO components like email, reports, events, surveys, donation management, etc.  Didn't anyone tell you this?  I also use the Luminate connector.  Do NOT want anything to do with Omatic.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

  • Thank you both for confirming my thoughts. Yes Joshua, it was a Blackbaud sales rep that was telling us this but our outside consultant was kind of dancing around the topic too.

Patti I was told that we only have the TeamRaiser component so we can't access the other tools. We can send emails to the constituents that were created through TR, pull reports, and manage the constituents in there, and of course create some pages. I am going to dig around a little now that you mention it. I am also going to see if our director of digital marketing wants to test this out and rethink some stuff. One thing though is even if we could send all of our eblasts through it I think that the number of emails that our contract would allow us to send would be very low, plus the number of email addresses in the system. The overage costs for all of that can get really pricey.

Thanks so much! I hope you both had a great weekend and that your Monday treats you well.

It maybe that this is a requirement for the current version of Luminate?   I don't know, but I ran into this issue with looking into FE.  We were self hosted with RE, but we could not use FE unless we were to move to the NXT platform.  They were not currently selling the "legacy" version of FE, and therefore the only version they had available for purchase was FE NXT, which would not sync properly with the older non-NXT versions.  To say that I was not pleased was an understatement.
