Record Gift Instalment Frequency against each Recurring Gift Payment, not just on the Recurring Gift

Currently, the frequency of a Recurring Gift, for example monthly or quarterly, is stored only on the Recurring Gift set up record, not on each payment to that gift (Recurring Gift Pay-Cash). This means that any query seeking to view payments to recurring gifts, which includes the ‘Gift Instalment Frequency’ field will display only the CURRENT frequency for all gifts. For example, if a supporter changed the frequency of their donation from monthly to annually a year ago, all of their payments will show in the query as annual since they began, regardless of this change.

Including amendment fields in your query does not resolve the issue as the amendment is also only recorded on the Recurring Gift and not the payments, so these fields will be blank. The Blackbaud team have confirmed that there is no fix for this currently available or planned.

I have proposed in the Idea Bank that Gift Instalment Frequency be recorded in each Recurring Gift Pay-Cash record when created, which will greatly improve recurring gift reporting capabilities. Please vote for this if you agree here: https://re7.ideas.aha.io/ideas/RE7-I-5192
