Help: Accepting International Gifts, Netherlands Specifically

I hope another user her can provide assistance, as I've contacted Blackbaud support twice now, but still have issues coming up.


The issue I have is that, despite my best efforts, a donor from the Netherlands is trying to submit a gift on one of my org's online express forms and they keep getting declined because of address verification checks.

I've done my best to follow the steps in the following Knowledgebase articles:

• How to change AVS and CSC level in The Raiser's Edge: https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/62637 (thinking it may be an AVS setting, but the default setting is Medium, which is where our it at right now)

Ultimately, I think the primary issue is that--despite what one sets in the Config>International>address settings for the specific country in Raiser's Edge--Online Express forms will only present themselves as one of 5 primary formats (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand), and they all require some item from either a State, Province, County, or Suburb dropdown menu. The address format for Netherlands doesn't easily translate to one of these.


I'm feeling very frustrated in being stuck with this as I've already contacted Blackbaud chat support twice and the donor is still being declined.  I'll be honest: it seems pretty ludicrous that a person on my end has to jump through all of these hoops--and at this point unsuccessfully--to let any donor give online.

Based on selecting the Netherlands on your donation page it looks as though you have your Netherlands setup in RE using the United States template and even though you probably have no included State field in your configuration for that country - Online Express is still making your donors enter a state. I suspect if you change your country template to the United Kingdom and reconfigure it again that will do the trick. 


This was the problem we had around 4-5 years ago. I'm curious to know if this will help you should your donor in the Netherlands be willing to try again.
