Why won't my audio/video file upload into the Document Library?

Options

A common reason uploads into the Document Library fail is because the file being uploaded is too large. HTTP (what makes the web) has a limitation of about 10MB for file uploads. You will have two choices:

1. Use some type of software to make the file smaller. You can edit the content, lower the quality, use different types of compression or break the file into several files. Remember, a 56bk modem will normall transfer at about 40kb, meaning a 10 MB file will take about 250 seconds to load, under ideal conditions. Even if buffered play were being used (meaning the file plays as it loads) the experience for the viewer wouldn't be very good.

2. You can FTP the file and helper (redirect) files to Convio. Contact Support for username, password and host.

  • The image and document library both follow this rule, anything over 10MB will not load into the library. I have tested this with some large files and get the same error each time.
