Assigned Solicitor Code for Alumni Relations Staff

Options
Hi Everyone!

This is my first discussion in the forum...usually I just read what everyone is talking about, but this time I really need some input from you all!  When assigning Solicitors to prospects, do you use different codes for Development Staff and Alumni Relations Staff?  We are currently using "Relationship Manager" for Development and Alumni and I feel that Alumni should have a different code.  Does anyone have any ideas on a name?  How are you using Assigned Solicitors in your organization?

Thank you in advance for your input, it is greatly appreciated!

Congrats on your first post, Cynthia! Exciting! Do you want me to move this over to the Raiser's Edge forum or keep it in nonprofit best practices?

    Cyndi,

If by code you mean solicitor type, yes, we use different ones for our solicitors. Examples are staff, board, community. We've also used ones for different phases of our capital campaigns. I'd keep name as simple and clear as possible. We also use start and end dates for our solicitor assignments. I know not all orgs do but it works well for us.
  • Hi Crystal!  Yes, please move over to the forum, I thought I was there.  Still learning!  Thank you!
  • I am not much help as we are the Alumni Foundation so our Development Staff are both; however, we use Primary Manager for the Development Officer, Administration for the VP or Dean that are accompanying when they are not the Primary Manager . We use to call the Development Officers, Major Gift Officers so we do have some old portfolio information that still has Major Gift Officers but they have end dates on them.

Good luck making this work.  You will.
