Giving as an Organization vs. Individual in OLX

Options
I setup a giving form in OLX for two different appeals.  I marked the option that would allow donors to give on behalf of their organization.  However, I am discovering that when they enter their information (Org name, their name, Org address, etc.) RE recognizes the Org, but not the individual, if they are not a constituent.  The individual could have a relationship in RE to the Org, but it would appear that RE wants to make them a constituent and we don't want that necessarily.  So, I ask is there a way for us to choose what OLX links to based on what was entered by the donor?  Or can OLX read the relationship field and determine that the person does have a relationship with the organization, so it can process the transaction?

As it stands now, we end up entering the gift manually, which defeats the purpose of having an online giving option.

Thanks,

Candy

I am a little confused as to what you are asking for specifically, but I will answer the questions I think you are asking.

The user processing the OLX gifts from the portal into batch has absolute discretion once in batch to determine what information is kept or discarded. You have the option of changing constituents that receive the hard credit on OLX gifts in batch - what is downloaded from OLX is not set in stone. For instance, OLX will make the assumption that if someone includes a text in the "on behalf of an organization" field, that the information from this field is the true donor for the gift. However, you can change who received hard credit (HC) once the gift is downloaded into batch.  By clicking on the binocular icon for the constituent name field in batch (or pressing F7 when your cursor is in the field) you can open the advanced search window and choose any other constituent record in your system.  You are not tied to any assumptions OLX makes on your behalf, and can edit any field in batch.

If your question is more around the annoyance of having to create a record for the company name included, please note that it is required that you select an existing record in your system when downloading a gift with an "on behalf of organization" listed for this company field.  However, if you do not want it to create a new record for "ABC Company" then you can go the route of having a dummy record in the system for say "Org Anonymous" and choose the dummy record option when linking the field with record in your system.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

  • Hi Austen,

As I typed the question, I knew that it would
be confusing.  Thank you for even attempting to answer
it.  I believe that you have answered my question and may have
solved my issue.   It sounds like I can override the
assumptions that OLX makes about who is the true donor and that is
    what I needed to know.
