Suppress constituents who have received a certain email message.

Options
Hey,

I'm wanting to suppress the group of constituents who received our most recent email message from a subsequent email message we are sending.

I can't see a way to do this out of the box, but I'm thinking this could possibly be achieved by building a query, but I'm not coming right there either, as there is no apparent way to create a query based on an email message send.

Is there a way to achieve this directly, and if not can I have some suggestions on how I might achieve this.

Thanks and Regards,

Stephen

  • We do this a lot.  Run an open report on the message and then view the results.  There's a link to add them to a group and then you can filter out that group.
  • Hey Stephen,

Run a delivery recipient report on the original message. Create a group and import these users into it. Then use that newly created group as a suppression group on the subsequent message.

    Thanks,

  • We use the open report most of the time for resends in case our first message got missed in the recipient's inbox.  On the next message, we'll change the subject line and maybe the first line in the body - just in case they just didn't trigger the open but perhaps previewed the first email - but this way, we hope to catch people from the first round.    The delivery report is good if you absolutely don't want anyone from the first recipient list in the next round.
