I've never seen an x in this field. Sorry.

  • And I've never not seen an "x" in this field.  smiley  The moment I type even one character into the Quick Find Constituent box, a black "x" appears at the far right edge of the box.  When I click the "x," whatever I'd typed vanishes.  I looked at my User Options and checked Knowledgebase a bit and found nothing.  Puzzling.

Very odd. Mine does not have any x.

LOL, I had to check to see if I have the "x". Surprise, I do. Honestly, never noticed it before.

Could it be a version issue? We're self-hosted and running 7.96.6401.8.

Can't believe it has always been there and I've never seen it.

  • I think it is a setting within the users Windows environment. I investigated all users and some had it others didn't, most weren't aware of it.

Unfortunately everyone is using different devices for access, different makes, ages, specs so difficult to track down what setting enables this...with the BB developers now to see if they can shed some light on this...
  • We're hosted and I've never seen an X in Quick Find, and I would have noticed as I'm on the autism spectrum.

I'm on Windows and have used different browsers for Citrix: currently Chrome, previously Firefox and one or two colleagues still using IE! Yes, IE not Edge, because certain finance systems won't work with anything else apparently - they won't let me tinker.

Despite the quirky data entry behaviour for that field, I like using it with first three letters of first name and surname.
  • I have also never seen this x in the quick find box like you're talking about, and would have also noticed it since I love shortcuts like that.  I wish I had it!
  • Support came back with the following:-

"It seems that the only thing that seems to be common between workstations is that machines running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 – the X will not show. On machines with Windows 8 or Windows 10 the x does show."

This does seem to be the case as we have a mixture of OS in use. But no explanation as to why!

  • I have Windows 10 and am Hosted.

    No X here.......
  • Well - we are not hosted - so maybe that is the difference in this situation?

    Puzzling

I am on Window 10 and not hosted. I had the "X" until due a recent job change I'm now working remotely and logging into our network. No more "x".
