Parking Lot Post: Downloading Transactions in Online Express - 07/12/2018

Thanks to everyone who came out this afternoon for our webinar: Downloading Transactions in Online Express. We had a few great questions that we didn't quite get to, that I wanted to post about here:

When you update or add a new address, will the address change be noted in the address attributes as a change made from Online Express?

No, Online Express won't add any address attributes--but there are a few ways you could accomplish recording that a new address came from Online Express.
  1. For new constituents, you can use Default Sets, which you can configure to apply default information to a record. In this example, I created a Default Set to add "Online Express" to the Information Source field on an address. Here is some additional information about adding a Default Set: How to create a default set. Once you've created it, you'll go to Online Express > Account > Integration Options > Constituents and choose which set you'd like to use for your new Online Express constituents.

  2. This option only works with brand new constituents, so I have another option! After you've linked your constituent and updated their information, you can click the Open Record button on the Record Linking tab. This will open up the record with the changes you've made. You can go to the Addresses Tab and add an Info Source or an Attribute to indicate the change was from Online Express.
How do you save the batch in a batch folder?

The folders you see in Batch, are actually batch "categories" that you can use to help categorize your batches. Once you set up categories, you can select the category when creating a new batch, drag existing batches into the appropriate categories, or if you're working in a batch (like you would be when you open a batch you created through Online Express), by clicking Tools > Edit Batch Setup and choose a category. We have more information here on creating and organizing your categories: How to organize batches into Folders or Categories. Blackbaud University also offers a class called Mastering Batch and Gift Maintenance, which will review Batch for gift entry - that might be helpful as well if you're still learning the in's and out's of Batch Entry!

Thanks again for all of your participation! I hope to see you all at the next webinar!
