2017 Charitable Giving Report--Mobile Giving Reports

Hey Oh-Wise-Ones in the Community,


After sitting on the webinar reviewing the 2017 Charitable Giving Report, I have no idea how to report on our mobile giving numbers.  Is there a report in Luminate that identifies HOW the gift was made?

I don't think this is stored in Luminate anywhere. You could get an idea of your mobile traffic from Google Analytics, but I don't think you can produce a Transaction Report in LO with the browser type. Too bad, that would be useful.


If you wanted to do this going forward, you could add a hidden custom field and populate that with JS on your donation form. That would mean editing all your donation forms and fooling around with CSS and JS.


Google Analytics has good tracking tools for this, and would probably be easiest.


To track this over the long term, search for GA goals and funnels. (I think if you want to track the value of the donations in GA you would use Google Analytic's Ecommerce tracking.)


For right away you can get some info.

• I went to the AUDIENCE > Mobile Overview view in GA where the first column is Device Category.
• There I added a Secondary Dimension: Behavior>Page. This adds a column with all the page URLs.
  • A standard donation form has form=completed in the URL of the thank you page. So click the advanced link by the search field and make a filter:
    
        Include -- Dimensions:Page -- containing -- completed

That should give you the numbers of users that completed a donation sorted by device category.

Thanks Brain, I guess I'll have to familiarize myself with GA, as I haven't waded into those waters yet.   A  task  for my Summer To-Do List!
