Uploading Media

Options
Hey everyone,

I have a gift entry associate who has not been able to upload any media into a record, it appears the files are never searchable. I made sure she has the right permissions to add and edit media, we save the pdf to the hard drive, but still no luck.

Also she tried to copy and paste a screenshot into notepad and that back fired and froze her system.

Thoughts?

  • Hi Claudia-

This part is clear to me "associate who has not been able to upload any media", but I'm not sure what you mean by searchable here "the files are never searchable".

I guess the first question is, is she creating the media by selecting Create New or Create From File?

Second question, assuming she's choosing Create From File, can she browse her hard drive and locate the file she wants to attach to the media tab? If not, can she browse to ANY file at all and attach that file to the media tab?

    Hi Aaron,

I apologize this was an end of the day my head was all over the place post. So she is selecting "create from file" however when she browses her hard drive no files appear. Despite that they have been saved there.

    Thanks, Claudia

  • Hi Claudia-

I'm stumped. I honestly don't see how it is possible she can select Create From New, click Browse and see absolutely no files of any kind anywhere on her entire hard drive. Have you witnessed this yourself by watching over her shoulder step-by-step? My last thought is that when she searches her hard drive for the file, she's not actually searching her hard drive and instead she's searching the cloud.

Agree with Aaron. Where is she searching?

Could it just be the file type she's looking for isn't what they are saved as?

Heading into a similar project so paying close attention in the event I run into similar issues. surprise
  • Mystery solved, she got an error message that would read something along the lines of this operation has been cancelled due to security permissions please contact your system administrator and would cancel out, if she clicked ok it would proceed to let her select a document.

    Thanks all!
  • Hi - one of my clients was having the same problem and it was a mystery to me as well - till I discovered that it's caused by being hosted. Blackbaud has to do some kind of magic to map the drives, and so does the IT department at your end. I can't say whether it all worked out because I'm between contracts with the client so I left it in the hands of the IT guy. We were not able to save Exports, Reports, and Excel spreadsheets exported from Query to the local network shared drive either, so we were constantly putting things on the desktop and then moving them to the shared. What a pain.

A call to Support will definitely be in order. Best of luck!

  • Hi Gracie, Excellent point! We did end up re-mapping our drives as well! It's one of those finicky things with being hosted.
