Tax Receipting - variable template

I am wondering if anyone has ever integrated the acknowledgement and receipt process into one process (ie. having one document contain both an acknowledgement letter and tax receipt), and how/if a variable template for the receipt is doable.  I'd appreciate connecting with anyone who has, or being directed to any articles (KnowledgeBase, etc.)  that could help me in determining if/how this can be done.  Thank you!

    We have been doing one document as thank you and receipt for years. As we use Mail > Receipt function with receipts being numbered, we have letter for each of our active funds. Gifts are marked as receipted. We do not change the acknowledgement status as part of our process. It's just known that if gift is marked as receipted they received the letter.


    We use Mail > Acknowledgement when thanking donors for most multi-year and payment due out in the future pledges/recurring gifts. For pledges that are 'bill me now" we have a one page document thanking them for their pledge with a tear off remit with payment slip on bottom third.


    So in answer to your question, yes it can certainly be done in Mail or by exporting gift info and merging from outside source.
