Page Not Found - Web Statistics

When I look at our web statistics, I see that our "page not found" page gets a majority of our traffic (in the "Pages-URL (Top 10) report). There are other weird pages that appear on this list. Is this normal? What is the reason for these getting so many hits?

    Hey Sam,

    There are two things I can think of checking, one is that if you have an embedded image or component that is no longer present on your site but is still referenced I believe this generates a hit to the page not found. In addition you may want to go to google and use the link: operator to search for pages that have links that end up on your page not found.
