Finding where email is stored (Bio 1 Vs Primary Business)

Options
Hello All,

First time posting here but have stalked the pages since I started in my role 6 months ago. I have been tasked with altering the details (inactive, comments) for emails which have bounced from our external mass email provider. I have Cons ID, email address and names from the provider.

I'd be interested to hear what people would suggest for finding the location on these on RE? I.e. Do they sit on Bio 1 or in Primary Business details? (These are the only two places we mail from) We are using RE 7.96 in case that helps people with suggestions.

Many thanks,

Scott

  • Hi Scott-

Assuming you are completing your updates using Import, I don't think it matters where the email address lives. What does matter is that you'll need the Email Address Import Id of each address. The Constituent Id and the Email Address Import Id is all you need to update Email Inactive checkboxes, Email Notes, etc..

My recommendation would be to export every email address in your database with the Email Address Import Id, then use VLOOKUP to bring those Import Ids into your spreadsheet. Add a Comments column along with a YES/NO column for Inactive and then Import using Constituent -> Constituent Phone import
  • Hi Scott,

Which email service provider are you using?

We have just moved to using dotmailer. It records bounces and unsubscribes etc. but these then need recording back into RE (otherwise we end up how we left when using NetCommunity with 14,000 invalid emails and 9000 unsubscribes that weren't recorded).
