Percentage of Married Constituents to Single Constituents

I am trying to find a report that will show me the percentage of married constituents to singles constituents. Adults over the age of 25. Does anyone know if this report is in Raiser's Edge?

  • Ooo.. that's an interesting report idea.  Depending on your data it could be a little tricky.  We have some people in Raiser's Edge who have a marital status of "married" but we don't actually have a spouse record in RE (we simply don't know anything about the spouse) but we also do have a lot of spouses in RE for married people.

If this is a one-time thing you could probably create a query of all adults over the age of 25 and then create an Export with Name, Spouse Name and Marital Status, making sure that you only exported out Heads of Households...

Then I think you could probably sort and tally them up fairly easily....

We will be doing this on an annual basis for new families and existing families. Each member has a constituent record. So if it is a husband and wife they each have their own record. I was hoping one of the reports would provide this data.

There is not a canned report that exists for this info.  But if your records are marked correctly, in the way designed, then you should be able to utilize a couple of queries to get this info.

    1. If every record that is married says married in the Marital Status OR has a spouse record linked to it you can do a query that says:

Marital Status equals Married or Spouse Name is Not Blank and that would give you all of the married records.

    2. For the singles if you have the Marital Status Blank, you can look for Marital Status equals Blank OR Spouse Name is Blank

    3. To cull out the 25 years and older you would have to be keeping good records on Date of Birth.  If you have that then you can query on Age is greater than or equal to 25.  This can be added to the married and the single queries.  If you do not keep track of date of birth for all of your constituents, then this will not be something you can get any stats on.
