HUGE thanks to everyone who came out yesterday for our Planning Events in Online Express webinar. We had some excellent questions that I wanted to post about here: 

What if my event person does not have the benefits for an event yet when I have gifts for the event that are coming in? Can we add benefits after? We did not get the price of the event until almost the date...

Technically, it is possible to add event benefits to gifts if needed after the gift is processed. You can do this individually or if you have many gifts, you can refer to our Knowledgebase solution: How to import gift benefits. However, if the benefits have a value, they will affect the amount that is tax-deductible (the receipt amount). For that reason, we would recommend that you configure your event, pricing, and benefits before having constituents register online. That way, you don't have to alter any important financial information about the gift after the registration payment is processed. 

Is it possible to force a sponsor registration to populate a participant record with a "Sponsor" registration type?

No, this is not possible in Online Express. All online registrations will populate into the system as "Registrants" or "Guests."  We do have an idea in our Idea Bank to be able to Add a form for event sponsors to add a guest list to an event, to allow your organization to collect Sponsor registrations and even help the sponsor indicate who is they are sponsoring as a registrant. Be sure to add your vote for this idea if this is something you'd like to see incorporate in event forms in the future! 

When you're editing the confirmation email, what sort of information is included in the "Registration Details" merge field? 

Registration Details includes the options that your registrant purchased, the names of the registrants in each option, the total purchase amount, and payment details. Here's an example of how that looks:

Can you add the tax statement and is it considered to be an actual tax receipt? 

If you'd like to receipt your donors online after they pay for their event registration, you can use Online Express's eReceipt feature. This will allow you to save time issuing receipts from The Raiser's Edge. To set up eReceipts, follow the instructions here: How to set up receipts (eReceipts) in Online Express

To download event registrations, is that process similar to the process to download donations? 

Yes! The process is very similar! The primary difference is that gifts you're processing will be linked to event registrations. You'll also be able to see guest information on the Transaction Information tab when reviewing the transaction.
