Solicitors reassigned but not updated in Gifts

Options
Hi All,

I was asked to pull all our MD who have given a one off gift and are RG as well with solicitor attached.

What i noticed is that when i did this using the gift query it was pulling the solicitors who were assigned to that gift when entered not the reassigned solicitor.

Now my questions are
  1. If we change the solicitor to previous and add new one in the relationship fields why doesn't it trigger through the database.
  2. i was thinking of then pulling all the constituents ID who have the old solicitors and doing a global change to try fix this cause as i see it we have two solicitors for every one who has gifted and the solicitor has moved on
Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

Cheers

Darrin

  • If I'm reading your question correctly...

Gift solicitor autopopulates based on solicitor information on the constituent record at the time the gift was entered.  The gift solicitor will not update if a new solicitor is added or on old one removed from the constit record after the gift was entered.

Because as far as RE is concerned, that new solicitor relationship didn't exist when the gift was made and therefore had nothing to do with the gift received. Which is correct.

Note: In order for old solicitors to stop puling they need to have an end date.  Just marking them as former won't do it.

First, the RE Mantra; Query is a grouping tool, not a reporting tool.  You need to get the data using Export, not Query.  Since you're wanting a list of donors you want to use a Constituent Export.  You then pull the Solicitor information attached to the Constituent, not the Solicitor attached to the Gift.

Always use end dates on your Solicitor Relationships when that person is no longer the current Solicitor.
