Solicit Code of E-mail Preferred

Options
Hi Everyone,

I am cleaning up and defining our Solicit Codes in RE, and stumbled upon a tricky one. I know that best practice for solicit codes is to track the 'No' and 'Do Not's' versus 'Prefers', but we currently have a solicit code of 'Email preferred.' Now I don't want to mark these donors as 'Do Not Mail' because that is not necessarily true, and wondering if there is a better way to track this preference?

Given that more communications are going out via email versus hard mail, I was wondering specifically where (Attribute, Solicit Code, etc.) and how (What do you call these donors? Segment group, etc.) everyone else tracks donors who prefer e-communications?

We track communication preference in constituent attributes currently.  However, there is something to be said for the opt-in solicit codes -- look at the GDPR privacy regulations in the EU. Even if it does not fit into your "negative" view of Solicit Codes, if it works for your organization to be located there, then I would leave it where it is.

Think about attributes, definitely, but check into the new consent codes too.  It could be that might work for you as well.
