Constituent Attributes for Mailing Lists

Hi all-


We occasionally have people we want to add to mailing/invitation lists that may not get pulled over to the list in other way (usually because they haven't donated to us yet or aren't members, they're more of prospects and/or they've asked to get mailed certain things). I am looking to create a constituent attribute for mailing list opt-ins. I'm thinking of having an Attribute called "Mailing Lists" and then have drop down Description options for like "Monthly E-Newsletter" or  "All Member Communications" etc. 


Does any one have any suggestions or see any issues with going forward with this plan?

Hi! I went to the Roadshow in Atlanta yesterday and attended a session on Address Processing. Your suggested route is exactly what was recommended. If you have a Constituent Attribute like you described, it can then be pulled through, either included or excluded, in the Mail module on Tab 4. Even if you don't use the Mail module to create your mailing, you can always use it to create an Output Query to use elsewhere. Someone with more experience may have another suggestion, but that is where I would start!

That is exactly what I do have -- what you mention - a Constituent Attribute called "special lists" and the dropdown of descriptions has a list of things to choose from just for the purpose of including these folks depending on the mailing and situation.  So there are things like Head of School personal contacts, Holiday Card, Admission Director special contacts, Founder's special contacts,
