I need help fast. For some reason the link in the plain text section on the Convio website is right. But when sending the plain text message to myself it is showing the wrong link. The problem is I cannot get the plain text email to display the right link no matter what I do. I have already set up a new message but still doing the same thing. I need helps as soon as possible. The same plain text message below:

  • The URL that you are seeing is a generated trackable link and should be leading to the same location.

If you want the link to not be trackable, you can append "&donottrack" to the end of the URL and the software will just strip this off and leave it as an untrackable link.

By removing the http:// from any links in a plain text email, it seems to remove all of the letters that appear after the link.  Does this mean that if that link is clicked in a plain text email, it will not be recorded as a click through in our reports?  Are plain text clicks even counted as clicks?  Thanks for your help!

Yes, plain text email clicks are counted on your overall click-through score, but I'm not sure what you mean by removing "http://" removing letters.  I've successfully sent plain text email links with and without the leading "http://", however some email clients don't view it as a hyperlink.  Where are you seeing this problem?

When editing the plain text version, if your web addresses have http:// before them, the following appears in the received message:

    http://www.braintumorcommunity.org/site/R?i=mloNLWLBN35u99TOkBCJsQ

    ..

If you leave the http:// off while editing, the link will apear as www.braintumor.org only.

I am wondering if by doing removing http://, we are making the link/address look "prettier", but losing the ability to track click through in those email clients that do show a clickable link.

I hope that makes more sense!

    Thanks!

Ah, I see what you're saying now.  Most likely, yes, you are losing the tracking by doing that.  Long story short, since it's just a plain text email without the functions of html readers, there's a good chance that Convio isn't even recognizing that group of characters as a link to follow.  If it did, it would almost certainly add the tracking code automatically.
