Naming Opportunities

How are you all tracking (room) naming opportunities in RE? I'd like one way to track both available and funded opportunities.

Hey Steph,


We created Org records for each naming opportunity and use the address lines to help us parse out the building and locations of the naming opp (if a physical location), We have multiple buildings so line 1 is the street address for the building and line 2 is the Floor/Unit within the building.


Each record has a number of attributes:

Naming Opportunity Amount (Target ask amount)

N.O. Category (Indoor, Outdoor, Program)

N.O. Staus (Reserved, Available, On Hold)

N.O. Dedication Date

N.O. Funded Amount (Amount received)


When the Naming Opp is "claimed", we make a relationship between the NO record and the Donor record.


Reports can be pulled based on Status, Ask Amount, Type, etc.

We do this with Event Records.  We have one event for all the naming opportunities within a building or area.  We set up all the naming opportunities as a Price.  Unit describes what the item it (Smith Hall - Room 321 Classroom) and then Comment will list if it's still available or not. 


When someone buys a naming opportunity we are able to put them in as a "participant" to the event, able to link a gift to the "ticket" (naming opp) they bought and able to use participant attributes and notes to store all the info we need.
