Gifts from Organizations - address is left blank

Options
I'm trying to figure out if this is just how Online Express works, or if we need to change something in our settings or process to fix this issue.

Currently, when we receive a gift through Online Express from an Organization, the billing address is coming on the contact individual's record, but the Organization record is left with no address. When you click into the two records - the individual's record has the billing address listed as the home address, and the Organization record address type is Business but it is blank.

Are we doing something wrong?

I've been processing the batch, making note of the organization records, and then manually fixing the addresses each time. There's got to be a better way...

Thank you!

  • This might be too simple, but it's the first thing that came to mind. When you link the Ind/Org to their RE record within the transaction window in OLX.. there is a circle toggle at the bottom of the window to "Update the preferred address with the downloaded information". You can't uncheck that circle, but you can uncheck the boxes above which lists the information that would be updated. I rarely ever allow OLX to update the information on a previously existing constituent unless it's a new email. You may also have the bottom most circle checked to "add info as a new address, make new preffered, previous address type:____". Take a look at these boxes to see if they may be interacting with your processing.

Hopefully this helps! or atleast crosses off an easy answer so that others can chime in with something more.
  • Thanks Samuel! Unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the issue. I've played with those settings, and they only apply to the individual record, not the organization record that is created through the Online Express portal.
  • Hi Vanessa,

We experience the same issue. The form is set up that the address is for the individual, so the business address is blank, We've been processing with the same method you describe, switching the address from the constituent to the business. This only happens for us with new donors. If it is from an organization already in RE, the adress has already been set up and we do not need to switch it. I do not believe there is anything you are doing wrong, just a limitation of the form. But I agree that there should be a better way. If the donor specifies the gift is from an organization, the address should be for the org. and the tax receipt should go to the org.
  • Thank you for your reply Emily! At least I know I'm not crazy. :) I'll put in an IdeaBank suggestion.
