Exporting reports to Excel

Options
We have recently upgraded our Raiser's Edge from 7.93 to 7.96.  I've realized that we can no longer export a PDF report (Cash Receipt Journal) into Excel and be able to manipulate it the way we used to.

How are others getting around this?

  • We are on 796 and I am able to export the Cash Receipts Journal into Excel.  I run the report. After it populates, I click on the Export icon on the menu bar, choose Excel Workbook data only and then save it to a file or open in application.
  • I have tried to do this but it condenses all my columns.  Do you do anything special within the export to make this more clear?  Our finance department depends on the Excel spreadsheet breakdown and I'm concerned that if I have to manually manipulate information there is huge potential for error.

  • Run Report. Hit Export Icon button.  First choices for format = MS Excel Workbook Data Only, Application.  Next Format box = check the first two options for column headings and use worksheet functions. Set column width options - select the 2nd one Column width based on objects in area.  From my pull down menu, I select ReportHeader. Format - select Non-tabular format.  Click Ok.  It works for me.  It comes up in a different version of Excel (maybe 2007?)  But I just save it and reopen it in my currect Excel.

I will voice my frustration with the limited Excel options when exporting reports, too. I'm sure they have their reasoning, but have been experiencing similar issues when exporting reports and not having format, ease of use we had with other Excel formats.

Talked with support yesterday and she was surprised csv didn't work for me. It was the worst. Report with 3 columns comes out with 25 columns, no headers to know what's where.
