Message Viewer Link Changing to Current Email / Multiple Message Viewer Links in One Email (is this blocked by LO?)

I'm working with a client and we're having a strange issue. For their newsletter email, they want one of the features to link to an old email message viewer link. However, when we're looking at the test emails, it seems that the old email message viewer link was converted to the current email message viewer link.


The code in LO has the correct link, but it seems that the link is being changed during delivery.


Anyone else have this experience?


I'm wondering if Luminate does not allow you to contain multiple message viewer links within an email, so it changes the email id to the current email?

Are you using http://[[S29:DOMAIN]]/site/MessageViewer for both links?


For the old message viewer link, try this:

http://<domain>/site/MessageViewer?em_id=XXXXX.X where domain is your website and XXXXX.X is your em_id of the old message.

Hey Phil, thanks for chiming in. Yes, I'm using that link format.


The old message we're trying to link to is: http://action.farmsanctuary.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=43281.0


But every time we send the email out it reverts to this (which is the actual newsletter - note we're using a different link now, the event registration page, while we figure out the issue): http://action.farmsanctuary.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=43417.0

Sure! Just a disclaimer - I didn't write this code, I was just brought on to help these folks since their staff member who does this for them "tendered an immediate resignation" on Monday. Some of it is not very good code, to be frank, and I plan to spend some time cleaning it up.

Found a workaround!


When we converted the link: http://action.farmsanctuary.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=43281.0


...to this: http://bit.ly/NYCtriFS


...then it works fine.

Wow, you are totally right.


Luminate is encoding the link to the http://[[S29:DOMAIN]]/site/MessageViewer instead of to http://action.farmsanctuary.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=43281.0.


I just tested it on my instance.


I would open a support ticket and see what they say. Definitely a bug.

I'm wondering if Luminate does not allow you to contain multiple message viewer links within an email, so it changes the email id to the current email? 

Redirect handler gets triggered when it processes the editor before passing it to the email template, so you can trick it sometimes by either making the URL look invalid or by avoiding S63 processing. I know for sure it'll work if you put it in the email template before S63. Haven't tried it, but you might be able to trick by avoiding an http in the URL. This might do the trick...

If that doesn't work, you also might be able to use a session var (because redirector won't touch text-only URLs)...

Second one probably has a better chance of working than the first one. You'd need a differently-named U0 for each unique link you want to do.
